Christmas 2006

We spent a quiet Christmas Eve as a family, going to church and reflecting upon the true meaning of Christmas. The best present ever was given to the world in the form of a child - our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It is always nice to quietly and thankfully reflect upon this great gift from God.

Christmas day started early, but not as early as we initially anticipated. The kids actually waited for us to get up before they came running into our room. Christmas this year was a lot of fun. Jacob was really into Santa and Julia is quickly understanding too. There was a flurry of wrapping paper being ripped from the packages under the tree this year. It was quite the challenge to figure out what presents were from whom! Jacob was so excited he opened presents before we knew what was happening! He was shaking while opening the Lightning McQueen talking car! I've never seen him THIS excited at Christmas!

My mother had a momentous birthday this year - I won't say which one, she might not like that! It was nice that the entire family - Tim, Karen, and respective families - all came for Christmas and mom's birthday. All three of us haven't been together in a long time and I know that mom and dad really enjoyed having us all there with them for the holiday. We had a great time opening more gifts (Christmas and mom's birthday), eating a great dinner, and catching up on all the family's activities.

In the evening we went over to DH's parents' home for the annual get together. The usual crowd had gathered - Krueger's, Denz's, and Wilson's. We got there just in time to eat...again! It is always nice to be with family over the holidays.

We look forward to what will come in the new year. Hopefully a new daughter from China, we've been waiting for news on Jenna for quite awhile - anticipation is high for everyone, kids included. Jacob will complete his year in Kindergarten and Julia will complete her first year in preschool. They are growing so fast! It's hard to imagine that we have been home with Jacob for almost 5 years and home with Julia for almost 3! Time flies when you are having fun...or is it just when you have kids?

Happy New Year!
